Hidden Dangers to Israeli Soldiers and Palestinians and What They Should Know to Protect Themselves.
Serious Dangers are Hidden from Israeli Soldiers Because their Senses Distort Everything they Experience.
The Illusion of Separation.
Israeli soldiers, like everyone else, perceive themselves as separate and distinct from those around them. However, this perception and experience are in direct contradiction to the irrefutable and unbiased facts of life. The belief in a separate self is not just a personal misconception; it is rooted in the way our senses distort reality. This misunderstanding of how we exist—one that 99% of humans remain unaware of—is responsible for significant suffering and conflict.
The scientific philosopher Nāgārjuna (c. 150–c. 250 CE) revealed nearly 2,000 years ago that the universal human belief in different and separate existences is faulty. According to his discovery backend by irrefutable science and logic, this perception of an individual self, unique and independent, is an illusion. Our senses convince us that we possess an essence that makes each of us different from everyone else, but this experience and belief is unsupported by facts our senses are not perceiving correctly.
The Four Characteristics Required to Claim a Valid Self.
1. Singularity: To be truly individual, a person must exist as a singular, unchanging entity.
2. Self-production: A person would need to exist by their own essence, not as a product of external causes and their essence.
3. Permanence: A valid self would need to remain constant and unaffected by change.
4. Label-Free: A valid self must exist as different with our mind’s labels.
However, no living being meets these criteria. All humans are composed of the same elements—carbon, nitrogen, calcium, oxygen, and so on. Furthermore, the mind is an ongoing, ever-changing stream of consciousness, dependent on prior moments and external influences. Neither the body nor the mind is self-produced or permanent, meaning no one has a unique essence or self. There are no inherent differences between anyone or the universal nature that produces and lives through the forms our mind labels “bodies”, therefore all so-called differences exist merely in our mind’s labels. Our minds invent labels (concepts) for all perceivable bodies, project these labels, and believe them to be facts. Therefore, a valid self can’t exist as different without our mind’s labels. Everyone exist as different only in labels and not in reality.
The Scientific Reality of Human Existence.
Breaking down the essence of human existence further:
- The body: It is composed of countless parts like cells, atoms, and molecules, none of which can claim an individual identity or permanence, as every part is composed on an infinite number of ever-smaller particles, which in turn are also made up of an infinite number of ever-smaller parts. No part is one entity which means everything else produced it with their nature, thus each part is without its own nature capable of self-generation, thus every part is without its own essence (self).
- The mind: It is a product of previous moments of consciousness and external factors, never standing alone as a singular or unchanging entity. Every moment of consciousness is composed on an infinite number of ever-shorter moments, which in turn are also made up of an infinite number of ever-shorter moments. No moment of consciousness is one stand alone moment because each is a product of previous moments and their nature, thus each moment of the mind is without its own nature capable of generating itself. Therefore, every moment of consciousness is without its own essence (self).
Since we are not singular, self-produced beings, we possess no independent essence that separates us from others. In fact, all humans are identical at their core, sharing the same universal nature.
The Selfless Nature of Human Beings.
Israeli soldiers, Palestinians, and every other person on Earth exist without a unique self, contrary to how they appear to our senses. Yet, we cling to this illusion of separateness, fueling conflicts and wars that amount to harming ourselves. Wars and violence, such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, are acts of ignorance based on the false belief in different selves.
Israeli soldiers may think they are defending their country by policing or attacking Palestinians, but in reality, they are acting against themselves. Since all humans are identical in essence, there is no escaping the consequences of their actions. They are, in effect, attacking their own identity and well-being.
The Consequences of False Beliefs.
The conflict between Israelis and Palestinians persists due to the ingrained false conviction that people possess different essences. If humans had truly different selves, they would need to be self-produced, permanent, and singular entities. However, as stated earlier, everyone is a product of countless parts, and no part is permanent or self-generated. Therefore, there is no valid ground for believing in a separate self.
Our senses create an illusion, tricking us into experiencing ourselves and others as separate and different. This faulty perception is the root of antisemitism, prejudice, and hatred—not because people are different, but because we believe in the labels we assign to others.
Understanding the Role of Labels.
Labels such as "Israeli" and "Palestinian" originate and exist only in our minds, they don’t originate or come from the side of perceived bodies. Bodies are real but labels are only labels and not facts about them. Labels are not real distinctions that arise from the bodies or minds of the perceived people themselves. When we strip away these labels, even briefly, we can see that all living beings are part of one seamless whole. There is no real division or separateness except for the conceptual designation we assigned to them, which is always an inaccurate, nonfactual belief.
This understanding leads to the conclusion that all conflict based on identity—whether it's national, racial, or religious—is a tragic mistake. By believing in the false distinctions created by our senses, we perpetuate unnecessary suffering and violence.
How to Help Israelis and Palestinians.
Israeli soldiers and Palestinians, being ourselves in essence, need this information to break free from their path of self-destruction. The only way to truly end the conflict is to recognize that the perpetrator and the victim are not two separate entities. By sharing the knowledge that humans exist without a self, we can help them see through the illusion of separation and avoid further harm to themselves and others.
Conclusion: Ending the Conflict.
To end the ongoing conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, we must acknowledge the deeper truth about human existence: there is no valid self that separates one person from another. The only differences between humans are the labels we assign to them, and these labels are creations of the mind, not reflections of reality. By recognizing this, we can prevent future violence and guide humanity toward peace and unity.
